Frequently Asked Questions

What is a website speed test and why does it matter?

A website speed test measures how quickly your page loads and becomes usable. Speed affects user experience, bounce rate and conversions, and page experience is also a factor Google considers for search. Faster pages generally keep visitors longer.

What does this page speed checker test?

It checks four areas: Performance (load speed), SEO (how well search engines can read your page), Accessibility (usability for everyone) and Best Practices (security and modern web standards). Each area gets a score from 0 to 100.

Is this website performance test free?

Yes. You can test any public website as many times as you like and download the report at no cost.

What is a good page speed score?

A score of 90 to 100 is considered good, 50 to 89 needs improvement and 0 to 49 is poor. Aim for green on mobile, since mobile tests are stricter than desktop.

What are Core Web Vitals?

Core Web Vitals are Google's user-experience metrics: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) for loading, Interaction to Next Paint (INP) for responsiveness and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) for visual stability. This tool reports the related loading and layout audits so you can see where to improve.

How is this different from Google PageSpeed Insights?

This tool uses the Google PageSpeed Insights API and Lighthouse audits, so the scoring engine is the same. It adds a simpler layout, plain-English explanations of each issue, and a clean branded PDF report you can download and share.

Does this test mobile or desktop speed?

The report uses a mobile test. Mobile is the stricter benchmark and Google primarily uses mobile-first indexing, so fixing issues here usually improves desktop speed as well.

Why does my score change between tests?

Results depend on server response time, network conditions and what loads on the page at that moment, so small differences between runs are normal. Test two or three times and look at the overall pattern.

How can I improve my website speed?

Common fixes include compressing and resizing images, using modern formats like WebP, enabling caching and compression, reducing unused JavaScript and CSS, and using a fast hosting provider or CDN. The report lists the exact issues found on your page.

How do I download my speed report?

After your results load, scroll to the bottom of the report and click Download Report. You get a clean PDF with all scores, issues and passed checks to save or send to a client or developer.
